Located in Siskiyou County, approximately 25 miles southwest of Yreka and Montague, Greenview is a quiet village in a small farm setting that lies along scenic Highway 3 in the Scott Valley. It is bounded by the Marble Mountains to the west and the Scott Bar Mountains to the northwest. Not at all what first comes to mind when one thinks of California, the setting of this beautiful area is verdant, countrified, peaceful, and well off-the-beaten path. With a village population of around 200, and lots of elbow room, traffic jams are virtually unknown here! Greenview real estate is just down the road a few miles from the village of Fort Jones - a "metropolis" four times its size. The nearest city of over 50,000 is Medford, Oregon which is only 50 miles away via I-5!
The actual community is unpretentious, rural and pastoral, and most of the activities in the immediate area are rural-oriented. However, in the larger centers nearby such as Yreka, Grenada, Fort Jones and Montague, there are all the normal urban amenities such as theaters, concerts, parks, and sports complexes.
Outdoor Activities in Greenview, California
Just a few miles to the southwest of Greenview and Fort Jones is the Marble Mountain Wilderness Area, featuring an amazingly primitive and rugged wilderness area with 89 lakes, craggy peaks, deep canyons, unique (and in some cases), rare mountain flora and fauna to beckon every nature lover. As a bonus, there is also the scenic beauty of the Mt. Shasta area, with great skiing and other winter activities. The area boasts a pleasant and moderate climate with just enough of warmer and cooler weather to create that invigorating effect!
